[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Eared Grebe was foraging for lunch on Murray Lake near Medicine Hat. They dive for small fish, aquatic insects, amphibians, larva and mollasks. This guy was seen with a couple of leaches. These grebes build nest platforms that float and the nests usually hold two eggs. Both sexes incubate the eggs and raise the young.
This photo was cropped.

Hello Ric,
Excellent photo of this beautiful Black-necked Grebe, as we call it. I've only seen this once in Sweden but hope to see it again next summer. Great details and ood colours.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello Rick,
I like a lot this Eared Grebe, you got a nice light over his head.
The feathers details are so good, and the eye really stands out on the image.
The crop and composition works pretty well.
Congratulations and happy holidays!,

Hi Rick,
Excellent capture of a species of grebe that I have been wanting to photograph for some time. We have the same species in Sweden, the nominate sub-species.
Your shot is sharp and well-composed. The bright red eye has a digital haze but the is nothing one can do about that.
TFS, regards, Ivan

A great POV of this eared grebe, Rick.
A perfect view of those golden tufts radiating from the red eye against the black head. Stunning.
Wonderful details and colors.

Bonjour Rick!

Ce regard est impressionnant et l'oiseau et le plumage est magnifique. Félicitations et merci pour le partage.

Excellent shot, well composed.
Well done

Hi Rick

Great shot of this untidy fella. Good low POV, nicely saturated colours and good clear deatisl. Merry Christmas to you and your family. :-)

This in my book is a killer shot!

I have never been able to see the ears on the Eared Grebe before! But apart from that I love the patterns on the water!

How come I have only now seen this photo?

Happy 2007, in case I get busy! Or sleep!

Hello Rick,
Very good shot and cropped composition. Nice portrait of this Eared Grebe.
TFS and Best regards. Ferran
