[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture shows a female Great Frigate Bird (fregata minor). The birds have their nests and resting grounds in the lagunes of Isla Contoy, a deserted island and bird reserve north of Isla Mujeres.

Making of:
I made a day trip from Isla Mujeres in order to reach Contoy. Due to the fragility of the ecosystem to mass tourism it is only allowed to enter the island from 9-17 o'clock for a limited number of people per day. The lagune near the museum has a good observation point for frigate birds. The picture I made out of my hands. Except the mosquitoes it is a good place to see these giant birds at close distance. In most places of the island the frigate is only seen in the air, but here it comes to rest.
