Black and red dragonfly

This afternoon I found this dragonfly giving turns in the patio, I had never seen one of this combination, the red color of their tail it is very special, very beautiful and it contrasts of a way peculiar with the shine of their trunk and head, the color of their head and trunk is black-blued.

It was difficult to take this picture for the hour: 3:35 pm (the session hard of 3.24 pm to 3:51 pm) there was a lot of sun, the sun it was almost up of us and it was difficult for me to manage the conditions of light, however I had to use flash to be able to capture the details of the body of the dragonfly and their wings (that which I could not capture very well, however likes me the image), me not to have seen that the dragonfly posed on the earth, I have always seen it on a tree, on a plant, but not in the sand, near this dragonfly there was another similar to her, I took several pictures and sincerely not to know which of them two are this or if I only took pictures to a, they didn't stop to fly and to move, however, in occasions they came closer enough to my, I believe that my presence didn't inconvenience them.

Contrary to other dragonflies that I have observed, something that captured my attention in this the flexibility that has its tail, was I noticed that she increased the size of its line, as if to fill with air, then the volume of its tail to increase. After some minutes they left.

Consulting the catalog of dragonflies, I believe that it is similar to this:
Libellulidae. Skimmer Family.
Genus Brachymesia
Brachymesia furcata
Red-Tailed Pennant

Although I am not really sure, if somebody can correct me or to tell me if I am in the correct thing, I will thank him.

This afternoon was of many dragonflies, I take pictures, of another smaller red dragonfly that of yesterday's image.

Morning Ninfa
What we have in this note is a good piece of observational work, certainly in the larval stage they breath by pulling water into their abdomen over gills just inside their rectal opening, and I`ve no reason to believe this changes in the emerged adult except that its now air not water they breath in.
the photo suffers from the very bright background, but I think you did well the use of the flash is the way to go but when it`s this close to a reflective surface, you may have to try getting the metre reading off the surface and lighten the dragon fly afterwards.
Not had time to check the Ident but it looks to be right, there are a lot more sites out there which its work searching for with Google or simular and put in favourites for instant use. Keep them coming.

Nice one Ninfa, as Rob says the background is a little bright which has lost you detail in teh subject. Nice colour to the dragonfly.

Considering the conditions the photo is very nicly taken. Remarkable perception on the breathing. Great note too. Thanx for sharing.
