Diagnóstic Description:
This species can be distinguished easily of the other similar species of the Hamadryas sort to have the stained gray dorsal side, in addition ocelo more distal presents/displays an average red moon.

Habitat : The adults are to the borders in clear of forest of secondary growth.

Service Life:
Egg is of white color and is placed of individual form in the hospedera plant.

The larva in its first stage has a cephalic capsule black brilliant, the body green and barely is covered with hairs, a size near 2,8 mm at the time of being born and reaches a length of 4,0 mm until dumb one makes his first.
In the second stage, the larva is grayish, with the black cephalic capsule and apparently it begins to demonstrate the growth of scolis in the body and the thorax. At the time of the second dumb one, the larva reaches an approximated size of 8,0 mm.
In the third stage, scolis begins to be more apparent in all the body of the larva and this pattern will stay during all the subsequent stages.
At the end of the fourth stage, the larva has approximately 26,0 mm in length and 3,0 mm wide in the average region of the thorax.
When finalizing the fifth stage, the larva reaches a length of 33,0 mm and 3,5 mm wide in the region of torax. In his last stages he is green grayish pale, with scolis green and longitudinal lines that go from the thorax to the segments annals. It presents/displays two orange spots to each side of scolis lateral. Reddish brown cephalic capsule and with a long pair of scolis, 3,0 mm in length, slightly curved towards the later part and with a protuberance towards the end.

Behavior: Crípticas when they settle downwards in the trunks of trees with the head and with the wings extended against the substrate are enough. From these trunks they fly to persecute other insects. They produce a sound in form of chasquido while they fly, which gives his common name them of "sonadoras".

Feeding: The adults do not visit the flowers but that are fed on fruits in decomposition, carrion, excrement and mud.

Relations: Between of their hospederas plants are several species of Euphorbiaceae like Dalechampia scandens, Dalechampia heteromorpha, Dalechampia tiliafolia, among other species of Dalechampia.

Distribution: Species: from the south of the United States to Brazil. Subspecies: from Mexico to Brazil.

Hola Ricardo, tú sí que sorprendes muy gratamente con tus mariposas, parece que las sacas de un sombrero mágico, cuando yo me preguntaba cuál sería el color de tu siguiente lepidoptera: Abra cadabra que aparece una camuflajeada, interesante, bellísima, de verdad que cuando uno las ve en la naturaleza no percibe tantos detalles como estos que has captado tan hermosamente en sus alas sobre todo en los bordes, es un hermosísimo diseño con una rica variedad de tonos cafés y dorados.
