|Taken the same day as my previous post. As you can see, the depth of field on this shot is relatively narrow—hence the soft focus on most of the subject, particularly on wing closest to the viewer. I had been shooting gulls on the ground, using a larger aperture (f/5.6) in order to blur the background. Suddenly several gulls took to the air and I fired off several shots; I had no time to adjust my settings. However, I appreciate the “painted” look of this particular image.|
