I am not sure what type of bee this is on the purple cone flower in my yard, but I love his colors and markings. I don't have a macro lens so this is as close as I could get.

Hello Bob,
This is not a bee it is actually a species of Flower fly, a bee mimic. My guess is (Toxomerus geminatus) Very nice shot considering you didn't have a macro lens!! Check out this link.
