[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
They say every insect serves a purpose in nature, but I am hard pressed to find this particular insects virtue. The larva I swear seem to spring up overnight. One day you don't see any, and the next day a whole colony is eating up your plants.

They seem to prefer potato and eggplant leaves, which they devour until all that is left is a naked stem. I had a real problem with them in the garden this year, and continually had to rid each plant of them, one larva at a time.

Their eggs look similar to those of Lady Beetles, but are a little larger. The larva when ready to pupate will drop to the soil. There is one generation per year in northern zones and two in southern parts. Adults will overwinter in any crack or crevice they find suitable.

interesting larva, TFS Ori

Great point of view to see the interesting underside of the larva. Excellent detail and colours.
Obviously its purpose in nature is to eat potato plants, the problem lies in the larvae not knowing its your plants!
