[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Least Tern is the smallest Tern, but one I find delightful to watch. This past June in Maine I observed the courtship ritual of the male bringing the object of his desire ( lady Tern ) a silver fish he would procure from the shallows of the shoreline. He offers this fish as a token of his devotion and love in hopes of winning acceptance and her affection.

This photo, however, is of one Tern harrassing another off the nest in the sand. The make their nests right in the sand near the grassy edge of the beach. In this same area I also observed the endangered Piping Plover's nest as well. Terns intermingle freely with other species of Terns and only appear to be territorial around the nesting site.

Another beautiful image of tern Leslie.
Great capture, perfect clearness and perspective.
Beautiful colors and accurate depth.
It would be good that you included the values of exposure to have greater information on the same one.
Well done!

A stunning shot, Lesley. Great timing on capturing this moment with the incoming tern at the top left, and the other one seen in the nest. Great details and color in the bird, and a nice subtle motion blur in the wings of the flying one. Good DOF, too, very nice catch.

WellLeslie, This one just kept on calling my name, how can I pass the birdies by? Your POV her is well chosen, I can nearly smell the salt. Good plumage texture - Oh, to have an IS lens!

Great capture. The sharpness is icredible. good work.

What an excellent capture Lesley - in any detail. the flying Tern is well frozen even with details left in the wings. the background is well blurred to set off the birds. Only nit - a little more movement in the wings of the flying tern would make it just perfect IMO.

Superb control of DOF here every thing that needs to be is Razor Sharp. they are really beautiful little birds thank you for sharing.

Wonderful capture, Lesley. The flying tern position is very explicit about his intentions. Perfect timing, perfect DOF, crisp, soft luminous colors. Environment has a strong presence here, totally in accordance with the subject. A favorite.
