[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Great Mormon is a large swallowtail butterfly that feeds on citrus, a particular favorite is the pomelo. It's fairly common in Singapore and can be seen on jungle paths feeding.

The male has one form, black with a dusting of blue on the upperside of the wings. The female, however has up to 7 forms and is much more flamboyant from the male. The polymorphic forms of the female can be found in Malaysia and Singapore.

No...I was not in Singapore, unfortuantely, to make this image. As a birthday gift, my daughter took me to a butterfly conservatory in a neighboring community. Exotic butterflies were everywhere. Loads of fun. I had been to one in Jutland, Danmark a few years ago and thought I had some amazing images of butterflies I had never seen before, but when I got back to our rented cottage I went to change the film and I must have had a real blonde moment as there was no film in the camera... :0)

Floating in space. Beautifull light, shinny shapes, great looking two red spots. Perfect.

What a bit#$! lol. Anyway, this picture makes up for the memory - great capture - tfs. Tim

Wonderful butterfly Lesley. An excellent composition, good detail, lighting and POV.
As another blonde that has done the same thing... I forgive you the comment :(

Great shot Lesley, perfect colours, details and Background.
Good note, thanks for sharing.

Very nice Lesley.
Good perspective and Exposure, with nice detail and colour.

Beautiful capture on this butterfly. I like how he covers the flower he is on, isolating him against that backround. Very Nice!

Beautiful shot of this butterfly. The colors and patterns on the wings are gorgeous, and stand out very nicely against the dark background. Very sharp details. It was really posing for you, with its wings widespread. Well-done!

Trés belle présentation, j'aime beaucoup cette photo avec ce BG qui fait ressortir les belles couleurs du papion.

Félicitations pour la netteté et l'éclairage.

Beautiful capture. butterfly colors very good.Tfs.

A splendid pic!!!

Ha ha, its not onlt blonds who forget to put the film in. I have unfortunately done the same and now have no pics of a trip to the Great Victorian Desert and may never get back there again. Digital is so much better...

Great shot and some nice detail on this one. Good composition.

Great macro Lesley, good pose and details.
Well done.
