[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Pine Grosbeaks sometimes migrate into Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine in search of winter food. The males are varying shades of pink, while the females and young are more of a brownish olive.
They are a large, stout billed finch that can crack hard seeds from inside of fruits. They enjoy a menu of buds, seeds and insects, fruits of cherry, spruce, pine, juniper, elm, maple, mountain ash, apple and crabapple and may be seen ground feeding as well as in the bushes.
