Big Moon Setting
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|Howard (marhowie) inspired me to want to try a decent moon shot someday. He provided a lot of information with his moon shot here: I'm Mooning U - 101 I don't think I came close to the master's work, but it was fun trying. |
I woke up early on the morning of the 20th and saw this big moon setting in my southwestern view. I wasn't able to set my camera up in time to try a shot, but I left it set up just in case. Just in case came the next morning when I found myself waking up early again. This is what I managed. It is tightly cropped. Makes me want to check into getting a doubler to see what that might produce.
I used a tripod, something I haven't done much. I also used a remote. I think this experience gave me a better appreciation for both.
ps My hat is off to all of you who manage to find the time to contribute here.

I'm glad I somehow motivated you to get out and howl at the moon for a bit..Great way to relieve stress BTW ;}
This full moon is well postioned in the frame, with good exposure retaining some nice surface details..Good advert too :)
PS - I've heard it's best when shooting a full moon to get it high in the sky..less atmospheric distortion or some such..

Great shot! I've tried numerous times to get a shot like this, but I've never had good results. Wonderful image!!
Hello David! Well done on this moon shot. It's sharp and well located on the frame. I think it lacks a bit of contrast. I did a workshop but I don't know if you'll like it. Thanks!
Magnifique photo de cette pleine lune! Les couleurs et la composition sont superbes. La netteté est parfaite.On croirait voir une peinture. Merci de partager!
Bravo et au revoir....JP

I don't know how I missed some of your images. This is an excellent moon shot something I find very difficult. Great job my friend.
