Big Moon Setting

Howard (marhowie) inspired me to want to try a decent moon shot someday. He provided a lot of information with his moon shot here: I'm Mooning U - 101 I don't think I came close to the master's work, but it was fun trying.
I woke up early on the morning of the 20th and saw this big moon setting in my southwestern view. I wasn't able to set my camera up in time to try a shot, but I left it set up just in case. Just in case came the next morning when I found myself waking up early again. This is what I managed. It is tightly cropped. Makes me want to check into getting a doubler to see what that might produce.
I used a tripod, something I haven't done much. I also used a remote. I think this experience gave me a better appreciation for both.

Morning Dave,
I'm glad I somehow motivated you to get out and howl at the moon for a bit..Great way to relieve stress BTW ;}
This full moon is well postioned in the frame, with good exposure retaining some nice surface details..Good advert too :)

PS - I've heard it's best when shooting a full moon to get it high in the sky..less atmospheric distortion or some such..

Great shot! I've tried numerous times to get a shot like this, but I've never had good results. Wonderful image!!

Hello David! Well done on this moon shot. It's sharp and well located on the frame. I think it lacks a bit of contrast. I did a workshop but I don't know if you'll like it. Thanks!
