[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This posting is of what is locally known as an Eastern Pondhawk.

Size: 36-50mm

Indetificaton: Females are Green and black and the males are light blue with green eyes and clear wings. Species is wide spread in the south eastern United states.

Habitat: Ponds, lakes and marshes, less common at slow sections of rivers and streams.

Behavior: Perches on anything, mostly the ground, low vegiation, and lily pads. Aggressive predator, often found consuming large prey, including other pond hawks.

This is a beautifully colored dragonfly with this marvellous mix of blue end green. A species we don't see often on TN! Nice natural presentation

This is a beautiful macro with the details of the Eastern Pondhawk seen with great clarity. The colours are brilliant and is beautifully displayed against the blurred background.
