After the quick repairs to the web, the spider returned to tend to its prey. It suspended itself from the web with two legs and used the rest to turn and prepare the cicada. Pretty amazing work by this big orb weaver.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Hi Reid,
Looks like we may have the same kind of spider. Not sure what they are. Great detail of the spider and prey with fine color. Nice BG showing the web. Well captured.

Hello Reid,
We seem to be fascinated by insects and spiders with their prey on TN and this shot helps to boost that fascination.
Pretty sharp capture with a fine composition of both spider and its web contrasting against a fine neutral BG.
Well done and TFS!

The continuing saga of the spider and it's prey. It is working well. I thought perhaps it would. Put together in or on a page along with explanation and you have a full chapter in this day in the life of etc...Nicely done.

Reid, You have shot this quite nice. I could sense the danger from the WEB. I am sure it would have been thrill to watch through the lens. Ganesh

Hi Mr. Reid,
Tired & hungry after repairing the web and on for enjoy the fruit of its toil. Nice picture story. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Reid,
Interesting comp/POV, with the web well seen on this green BG. Great details of this amazing shrink-wrap specialist :)
Have you tried a diffuser for close-up flash use? Before I started using a ringflash, I slid a small opaq plastic lotion bottle slit on one side, over the in-camera flash head.
Well done.
