Juvenile Coopers Hawk
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
As I took a walk this morning in the neighborhood this hawk flew into the tree in front of me. I've tried to identify it - the closest I can come is that it is a juvenile Cooper's Hawk - about 12 inches in length I would estimate, and rather clearly not fully developed yet. The bright yellow eye is typical of that species.

Hello Alan,
Very beautiful photo of this hawk with an impressive pose. Good sharpness and fine natural colors. In my opinion you got right about the ID: a juvenile male Cooper's Hawk.
Regards,
Peter
