I took this photo back in August when caterpillars were common sights around the garden. I'm uncertain of the variety. My title for this pic was beauty and the beast. My guess is that this beastly looking insect with transform into a beauty of its own. The flower is a dahlia.

Hello Paul,
The detail in this shot is superb, one of your best in my opinion!! The DOF is great and the colors are vivid yet natural. I like this photo a lot!!
The caterpillar I believe is a Yellow-stripped Armyworm (Spodoptera ornithogalli). Well done!!

Hello Paul,
A beautiful capture of a fine Moth caterpillar on a pretty Dahlia. I wonder if it did the plant any harm or just happened to have landed there. Great details and beautiful colours.
