|I took this photo of an American Alligator while visiting the old rice plantation at Brookgreen Gardens located on coastal South Carolina. I was on a boat tour at the time. The alligator was soaking up the sun, a process necessary for them to digest what they have eaten. This one is rather larger, being about 9 feet. They can grow as large as 14 feet, but game wardens usually remove them to unpopulated areas when they get that big.|
