[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This my last suitable slide from our Texas backyard:

A Silver spotted Skipper, Espargyreus clarus (Hesperiidae). The determination was made by Dmitry (Osmeterium), thank you, Dmitry!

The animal was found in our garden in Bryan/Texas eating on the Wisteria. The orange patch suggests a compound eye, but the true single ocellum eye is found underneath. This establishes the bugger as a lepidopteran caterpillar (Sawfly larvae have in addition to that distinction only one free segment between the thorax and abdomen, not two).

The shot was taken from hand, with a lens extension, under sunlight. The slide was scanned, the background had to be blurred to remove the grainy structure, the caterpillar was sharpened, the whole saturated. See the workshop version with minor improvements.

Hello Dietrich!!!
Another interesting picture of insect larva. Really at first I would like to say that this is a larva of Hymenoptera species but I can not see all important details to be sure (how many legs, ect.). Are you sure that it was a Lepidoptera species?
Best regards,

Hello Dietrich,

I'd say it's a caterpillar of Sliver-Spotted Skipper, Epargyreus clarus (Hesperiidae, Pyrginae).

Best regards,

Hallo Dieter,

Hi Dietrich
Strange caterpillar but very good shot. I like very much colors and DOF is excellent.

Hello Dietrich,
Great work from scan.
The shot has artistic flair, with nice color, BG, and detail. Interesting head structure..
It almost looks as if it's pushing a miniature avocado along in front of its head..Call me strange :)
Later, I'll be gone for awhile,
