Tricolored Heron

A new member to the "lagoon by the beach" family. Or should I say "lake by the beach". Hurricane Humberto sanded in the mouth but it will not be long before constant tidal action opens it again. Now, besides the Reddish Egret, Great Egret, Seagulls, Terns, Cormorants and various smaller birds, there is a Tricolored and Great Blue Heron that feed around the lagoon.

Hi Jim,

Wonderful capture of this Heron who has apparently just taken off. I love the position of those yellow legs and feet and the water droplets. The spread wings are wonderfully detailed. Beautiful ripples in the water. Great timing to get this one.

Hi Jim,
Wonderful in-flight shot showing the entire wingspan with sharp details. The rippled waters provide a fabulous BG and I like the way a few droplets of water drip from its feet illustrating that it just did lift off. Nice colours and the lighting is superb. Excellent POV to portray it and very nicely composed. Kudos.
TFS.

Hello Jim,
Nice timing in this take-off shot of a Tricolored Heron. You caught him pretty sharply and at a good moment: you can see the drops of water from his feet.
Nice composition and POV, but its a pity the color of the water allows little contrast with the heron's body and wings, but that was beyond your control.
TFS and regards,
Ivan

Silke (with apologies for my haste)

Nice inflight Jim.
Good detail, color, and exposure. The trailing drops of water off the feet add nicely also :)
Well done.
Howard

Fantastic wing-spread! Wonderful inflight shot! Awesome!! You're still knocking them out! :)

Hello Jim,
Still last drops of the water separate from efficient paws of this heron′s. Beautiful bird. I observe grey herons on my lake, but from technical reasons never succeeded to me to perform so good photo as Yours. It is amazing, but I never judged that these great birds were so efficient hunters of fish. Really they cope superbly in water. Beautiful picture, the excellent composition and really very good quality!
Best regards,
Jurek

Such a beautiful bird are they not? I think it is the wingspan and its sitting position which attract me most. Tricolored I have not heard of but one can see most of the colors in your action picture. You certainly have a variety of critters down there.
Bob

Jim, nice shot but slightly hazy it seems due probably movement of the bird or shutter speed. Ganesh

Hi Jim,
A lovely capture of this heron taking off. Beautiful composition with nice details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Buen enfoque a todo el plumaje. Igualdad en los colores agua-ave pero en general bien resuelto.

Saludos
