[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The tricolored heron (Egretta tricolor), formerly known in North America as the Louisiana heron, is a small heron. It is a resident breeder from the Gulf states of the USA and northern Mexico south through Central America and the Caribbean to central Brazil and Peru. There is some post-breeding dispersal to well north of the nesting range. (Wikipedia)

We encountered this particular individual in the Galveston, Texas, area on the banks of San Luis Pass, a waterway leading to the Gulf of Mexico. It got accustomed to the fishermen at that spot, collecting tidbits like discarded bait, as you can see in the pic.

The WS has a anoter vie of the same.

Hello Ishi - Nice picture of this tricolored Heron. Nice timing with good details. Thanks for sharing. Regards - Srikumar

Hello Ishi

With the one in the WS excellent shots of the tricolored heron
taken with you compact expert Sony RX100, very fine
POV and DOF, great framing, the heron's fish catch action
and the waves adds motion and dynamism to the photo,
excellent focus, sharpness, and details.

I am dreaming (wanting) an expert compact with large sensor
to have it with me at any time, and the Sony RX100, Sony RX100 II,
Sony RX100 III and some other expert compacts are in my dreams,
I wish I will have the budget for one of these cameras in 2015,
I am happy to see a bird photo shot with the Sony RX100,
I am liking very much your photos, TFS

Hi Ishi!
A very nice shot of this beautiful heron while catching its prey from backwash. Good sharpness and details of lovely plumage it has. I liked your WS shot more than the present one. Thanks for sharing,

Hello Ishi, Great timing!!
A wonderful action shot of this attractive heron catching it's dinner. The Tricolored Heron appears to be somewhat similar looking to our Blue Heron here in Ohio. Nicely framed and displaying fine detail and beautiful natural colors.
Well done!!
Ron
