I'm sad to post this image of this beautiful creature here. This morning as I stepped out of our house I found this sharp-shinned hawk dead under a tree. Was it poisoned by someone trying to poison rodents? Or somehow damaged by the storm last night? Two days ago it flew into our yard on the hunt for something, after we had seen it flying among the trees in our neighborhood.

It may have been this very one I photographed 10 years ago, or one of its offspring:

Hi Alan,a sad day for this hawk, the last of your life...the pic is a bit hard but this is the cycle of life...i like your original choice and the usual top quality.Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Alan,
This is a reminder that in nature things are not always as pleasant as we would like to think. One has to die so that others may live, in this case we don't really know what happened to the beautiful hawk. Perhaps it was the harshness of the storm or maybe it was just old age which caused it demise. Your image awakens us to the sometimes unpleasant realities of nature.
