[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

Of more than 200 kinds of thistle distributed over the northern hemisphere, there are about 75 in the United States, including some 50 in the west and southwest.

Thistles are the armored knights of the vegetable kingdom. Their
leaves, bristling with needle-sharp spines, protect them from grazing
and browsing animals, so that in closely cropped pastures we
commonly see tall thistles standing here and there. A burro or donkey,
however, will nip off the flower heads and chew them with relish. Bumblebees and butterflies, which have long tongues, feast on the
nectar at the base of those tubular flowers.

Hi Manyee ! How sharp can it be !? Beautiful flower very well captured by you. Great work as always.

No more smiley ! Tomorrow... :-)

Dear Manyee, beautiful picture! I loved these thistles, and I have just comment one similar at my cousin ZECA, that introduced me this wonderful world of TN. I suggest you to go visit the Brazilian relative at Zeca's Thistle. Well done!

Hi Manyee,
Beautiful colours and a bit strange that the flower grows sideways. I do have a remark : the picture looks very sharp, but it looks to me as if you overused the sharpening tool as the "petals" at the front seem to be square and not round? Do you see what I mean?
Au revoir :)

This is unusual Manyee, but very nice.
The details are nice, clear and sharp.
superb colours, lighting and exposure. DOF is spot on and the POV is good.
Well composed and well framed.
Thanks for posting, have a great week.

Wonderful macro shot Maynee. Colour and DOF is quite impressive.
