[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. We were on vacation and enjoying the beach when this lovely creature decided to stop by for some sunbathing as well. We were on a beach on the southern part of the island called Poipu. I was so excited to see one!

The Hawaiian word for Sea Turtle is Honu. They are considered an endangered species. This turtle was quite large. It's shell was roughly 4ft from the back of it's neck to tail area. So it could easily be 50-60years old. I'm thinking this one was a female because the males get long tails. But it may not have developed yet.

A mature sea turtle's diet consists of sea grass and algae. Their estimated lifespan is 80-90yrs. But still largely unknown because they are so hard to study in the wild.

Hello Blair,
A wonderful shot of this very tired looking sea turtle. I saw my first one while snorkeling off of Maui a few years ago.
I love the low POV you chose and the excelent detail you managed to capture. Colors are natural and the exposure is right on the money. Very informative notes. Well done!!
Ron
