Family Fringillidae; Coccotbraustes vespetinus (Evening Grosbeak)

A family of these beautiful birds were frequenting our bird feeders. This is the more colorful male of the species. Future postings will illustrate how beautiful the males are ... the females are less brightly colored, but are pretty birds also. A crow kept chasing them off, but they persistently returned for more bird seeds.
