[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is from my recent trip to Topaz Lake, Nevada...where the weather was quite a bit colder than here - it was about 17 in the mornings and the high was 32 during the day. It snowed every night. This is a a female white gyrfalcon.

Gyrfalcon is a large, bulky falcon, with thick pointed wings wide at the base, giving a fatter wing silhouette than most large falcons. Females are larger than males.
Light Morph (white): all white with varying amounts of dark markings above, blackish primary tips; dark bands on tail often incomplete.
Voice is usually silent. Status & Distribution: an uncommon species, it is a widespread breeder in the Holarctic.
Migration: Gyrfalcon sightings along traditional hawk migration sites are usually late in the season - Nov.-Dec.

Hello Steph,
splendid shot of a splendid bird, excellent composition and very good management of exposure
this image is realy good but perhaeps a little too reduced

PS I post a WS, I hope you like it

Very cute - maybe it's my monitor, but the right side seems a little dark - perhaps a little underexposed. Perhaps taking advantage of full 800 pixels would help. Regardless, the photo is wonderful!! Great pose and eye contact, color, dof.
Cheers, Penny
