[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Sometimes it is hard to describe a photograph. That hard to believe....coming from me....yet....
In this first trip back east in 20 years, I had a chance to rediscover the country...as I had already discovered it many time prior, in trips as a younger man both on foot, by car and train....by air and by dream.

There are parts of this country, which geology describes in terms known only to students of such, yet somehow miss the eye of the artist; For we see in pictures, not words. Technically these are fault-block mountains and in smaller circles of "knowers" are understood. They exist in the "Basin and Fault Range" of Nevada, a few miles N of Lovelock.

When I see......I see in patterns and shapes, colors and empathy for the earth. Empathy seems to be a strange quality, learned by years of study, concern and then sympathy....finally comes the empathy...and so when I click the shutter, I capture a moment of empathy blended with other ingredients and end up with a "picture". More of a painting in my mind than on paper, I alter it ever so slightly with words and tools, whether in the darkroom or on a modern computer.

As with everyone, I see things from only MY perspective, which makes critiquing others work a chore for me, albeit I never say anything negative about a positive.......I only see subjective difference....so.... beyond these fault-block mountains we can barely see a thin line of another and higher range with snow.... see it? That's right...only the brave go there I figure...maybe they don't come back sometimes. Nature will do that to a person...Boy Scouts motto..."Be Prepared"

Enjoy Nevada...I did for a very short time......

Great note, Superb shot,friend.

Hello Bob,
That is an amazing landscape; rugged, somewhat hostile...
Wonderful colour palette, warm and welcoming...
Country of contrast, well conveyed by the camera guy!

hi bob,
very nice landscape shot . nice composition, very appealing earthen colours,
tfs & regards

These serrated ridges in Nevada have a character of their own, Bob.
It is not all that difficult to share with you the "empathy" stage of your perception of these hills.
The picture is also very beautiful as a landscape composition from your camera.
Best regards.

Hello Bob
Great note and I'm glad you did enjoy yourself so much seeing this beautiful landscape again after so many years.
Wonderful warm color tones in the fore and hazy atmosphere in the background.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Harry

Beautiful view through your eyes...thanks for taking us there. You know, photography is a little like inviting somebody into your head to see what the world is like through your eyes. I like your world. :)
