On one of my last days around Tahoe, i thought i'd try my wider lens and tripod for some longer exposure shots on the bank of the lake.

With that in mind, i took of on a bike ride one afternoon, hoping that the heavy clouds would aid me into getting a sufficiently long shutter speed for that effect.

When i got to a suitable place, after taking a few shots of the near bank and rocks, i was simply amazed by the intense, dark colors of the clouds that kept comming and the wonderful effect created by some sun rays that were (amazingly) penetrating the thick layer.

At the end of the day, i had gotten some decent long exposure shots that i initially set off to get, but i was most happy with this one. I think a Large Post is the only way you can get a clear idea of exactly how massive the phenomenon was, so i uploaded one.

Hope you'll like it :)

Hello Horia,
Very nice and dramatic clouds and landscape
The big version is impressive
Great contrast between the dark clouds and the rays of sun piercing through them
TFS, Shir

Hello Horia,
What an amazing shot (especially in the bigger-size version). Trully expressionist image. I like very much the light, the heavy clouds and the baclit rain. Great record from the USA trip.
Best greetings & TFS!
Michal

Hi, dear Horia.
You have no problem with using this lens. You managed skillfully reflect this amazing nature phenomenon and reproduce rich light tones of the scenery. Large version is especially impressive. Composition and cropping are perfect too (not only storm is perfect). Superb done and Bravo.

Hello Horia,
Perfect storm, no perfect picture of the storm. Splendid image you share with us today.
The storm looks threating, yet with the light beams maybe it cleared. Thanks for your great work.

Karan (the correct spelling as shown on my birth certificate :) - most people have the common spelling "Karen" my spelling is not normally seen)

This is surely a good title for a magnificent picture. This image carries a mood with it... a feeling if you will. I am sure all see it in their own way. You have tied it to a movie and the movie does not have a "happy" ending... but as a drama is is a superb flick and your picture might have been used in advert. Well done.
Bob

Hi Horia,
A perfect storm, but also a perfect photo. The rays of light that shine through the thick clouds and rain are simply amazing. I love the texture you managed to capture in the clouds and the very subtle difference in shades. The silver color of the water has reflected the water very beautifully. My favorite part of the photo must be the silhoutte of the island with trees on the far right of the photo. But, the entire photo is a favorite thus added to mine.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Horia, perfect storm, perfect shot. Love this because its so dark and threatening. You controled the exposure well and the large post is awesome to look at. Very nice work.

Dear Horia,
Beautiful, very dramatic composition! I like almost black-white colours and the "play of light".
Fantastic panoramic presentation and very good control of light and shadows!
What can I say more, it is just lovely! :)
Best regards my Friend!
Radek
