|I think next I will post some shots taken this past winter on a trip down the Oregon/California Pacific coast. This was taken on the southern Oregon coast. I actually took it as a resource sky photo for my painting. I was mainly interested in the dramatic sky following a rainstorm. The lighthouse acting as a focal point does seem to make it more than just a resource photo. It gives the composition some more structure. I like the light.|
The Bandon Lighthouse – officially the Coquille River Lighthouse – was built in 1896, decommissioned in 1939, and is the subject of a major restoration effort today. Long the symbol of the Bandon community, the light sits at the mouth of the Coquille River, where it has weathered magnificent storms, guided mariners in and out of Bandon, over the treacherous Bandon Bar, and now sits as a proud reminder of Bandon’s commercial maritime past. In Winter, powerful storms can bash into the lighthouse as they have done for more than 100 years. Some storms bring tons of logs onto the beach

The clouds, as you say are great, I like the way the ray of sun illuminates the land on the horizon.

Great sky and seascape. Majestic cloud cover and the lighting on the lighthouse stands out and makes it look brilliant. Superb composition as a photograph and 'am sure the painting would look wonderful too. The very best for it. I would personally love to see a photograph of that painting too.

The foreground is dark and foreboding, the lighthouse has a ray of sunshine, what atmosphere in this great composition.

This is very impressive scenery.I like brigh line on horizon. She partition the picture on two parts:dark foreground and splendid cloud-scape on sky.And lighthouse is centre which has everything under control.I like this amazing composition a lot.Great work!
TFS and best greetings,Milos.
This is for sure a wonderful view where you were treated with great lighting. Imagine how luckey you were with this one patch of light hitting the the lighthouse only. (or, do I have to respect you for your patient wating for the right moment?) Anyway, the result is wonderful. The sky is for sure beautiful as well, and I can see the use for it in a painting. My small concern is that I am not sure if this is a fitting photo for TN.
