[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
UPDATE: After reading about how to sharpen a photo on the Microsoft WindowsXP website, and reading again, I tried something different with my photos. I had been having these strange pixel things happening I couldn't figure out and I thought it was just my "cheap" camera and/or scanner, but when I tried the new way my photos looked much better, so it was "ME" all along!
Here's what I did that seemed to help:

Scanned,
Adjusted levels, contrast, brightness
Saved
Ran through Neat Image, (if needed)
Resize for Web
Sharpen


It seems when I do it in this order the photos look SO MUCH better....well you tell me what you think??


On the third night of our Honeymoon we stayed here in Bandon, Oregon. This is a lovely town and very often has the warmest temperatures on the Oregon Coast. There were people riding horseback on the beach, I've always wanted to do that! There are many rocky formations up and down this beach lending it to some great photo opportunities.
There is also a cheese factory here that we toured. A very interesting place.
I cropped, increased mid-tones and contrast, sharpened +2.

Without ocean it would be like scene from western movie :-) I like colours and composition. As Philip said little overexposed, but ok for me.

I think this is much better. Better contrast, colours and details. And I like the POV and Dof.

Well, Lori, I remember the first one, but it was not as striking as this one. Here, the eye has no limit to explore the whole scene. I mean that, when you have something disturbing in an image, the eye doesn't go further and you become fixated on THAT problem. Here, its fluid, easier to follow the oblique perspective, from the horses to the rocks in the background, following the white foam in the waves. Just a nit, it seems there is a dominant pink hue. I'll submit you a WS about that. Nice you made that repost :-)

Yes Lori, this is much better. I think Louis best decribes how nice and fluid the shot is. very well done

I also saw the first one, and this is much improved. I agree it may be alittle overexposed, but still very nice. I really like how the horse riders give you a sense of scale. A very nice landscape.

Well I never! This is excellent rework that you did here. Do yourself a favour and look at your first images that you posted and then look at the last ones. I have done the same and you will be amazed at the improvement you will find in your work. If you listen to the advice some of the guys here gives and apply it the results will be there for the picking - it certainly helped me a lot.
