[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
As we were hiking across the rear areas of the Painted Hills Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds at the Trek Meeting we came across the first blooms of the year for the Hedgehog Cactus. All I can say for sure is that they are a beautiful flower, and watch out for those spines. I had one penetrate my hard rubber portion of my boot and had to use pliers to dislodge it, and it was a fight to the end...

Sounds as bad as a porcupine quill...with exception of the bur that prevents their easy removal...Neat image and looks like we are in for some nice images!
