Painted Hills Flood Plain

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I took a drive to the John Day Fossil Beds during our Memorial Day weekend to check the soil conditions for what would have been the following week's Trek meet. But due to the wet conditions of the Painted Hills Unit that persisted until just the past few weeks I had to cancel the meet until approx. August or September when the ranger will lead tours through the immediate valley that is closed off to everyone due to vandalism and people walking on the hillsides.
As you can see here, the colors were beautiful with all the rain, and the flowers were intense on the hillsides. |

Hi Steve
This area is truly special, I can see why the ranger doesn't want people walking just anywhere. So many grasslands and special area are very fragile and can't take human contact. I love all the colours in both the background and foreground.
Have a nice weekend!

...now I'm jealous ; )
Hallo Steven
You can take this photograph just as it is, frame it and hang it on a wall. Truly a piece of art. The colours and contours in this scenery is just marvellous. I would love to see the Painted Hills with my own eyes, but unfortunately that is not possible and that is why I feast on images like yours. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Anna

A very fine view on this interesting landscape. The colors are amazingly fine and the whole looks so natural and untouched.
Very pleasand landscape-picture.
