[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We received a recommendation from Evelynn or her husband to visit this falls and take the hike down river. It certainly was worth the visit and the short hike down stream was beautiful.

I had to deal with downsides of travel photography again which especially become difficult when photographing in a forest. The downside is of course that it is difficult to plan for perfect lighting and that most places are visited at daytime. Even blending 4 exposure did result in some hot spots and black shadows. But I did feel that you had to see this photo since it does show a magnificent piece of nature.

Hi Niek.
It is great that you have visited this amazing place and taken pictures. Despite the contrast subject you have exposed image very well. I also welcome long exposure time and nice reproduction of the water fall. Details and sharpness of the image is excellent too. Best wishes and TFS.

Hi Niek

Even before i read the note, the first words that came to my mind when i saw this were: "Man you had to deal with harsh light!" :)
Then i read that you actually used 4 exposures and i started understanding the magnitude of the situations. And, worth considering that the 40D has a pretty good dynamic range (better even that the newer 50D and much better than my 400D) so another factor for a scale between the light difference of the FG and the BG.
Even so, i think i agree with you: this place is definitely worth seeing and this photo was worth posting.
The waterfall(s) look great and the evergreens around it are the perfect setting for them. The narrow valley look like a superb place to hike, indeed, and i'm sure if yo had had enough time to spend there you would have taken hundreds more cool photos.

Cheers and TFS

Ciao Niek. Amazing water's effects in great playing of light. Good colours saturation.

Hallo Niek,

mooie diepte in de foto dooer dit standpunt en mooi die onscherpe waterval.
Prachtige kleuren.

Dit is qua belichting een moeilijke foto.

Hi Niek,

I do very much like that part of Oregon and you captured it well. It is also very pretty there in the fall. Photographing mid day is always problematical isn't it? Did you try some selective enhancing. I tried it and the dark and light areas responded pretty well. I'm hesitant to post a workshop as I am never sure if I am seeing your images correctly on my Mac. I like the inclusion of the stumps which help to break up all the green.

It's fun to see familiar places on TN. Thank for sharing it.

Evelynn : )

Niek,my bro!
How the hell have I been missing your shots?
Bro, how did you get to make that water look like...for the lack of a better word...smooth?Amazing shot, I really like the POV you've chosen!
