[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Three Fingered Jack is located in the Central Oregon Cascades off of Hwy. 20, the Santiam Hiughway that leads from Salem to Sisters and Bend.
I captured its likeness at sunset after touring backroads looking for vantage points for the Three Sisters, Mt Jefferson, Broken Top, and Mt. Washington.
I was able to reach almost each destination within 2 or 3 miles before snow turned me back around and to another destination.
I did change the foreground tree color to make the image a Triad, or close to it as I prefered the appearance to be more visually interesting, also, my next painting project.
Taken with a Nikon D90, at 100mm, set at 200 ASA, with a Polorizer and blue Graduated Filter.

Hi Steve
I like what you did with the evergreens. This looks like a painting. The mountain in the background is very unique looking, I can see where it gets it's name. Did a forest fire go through the area? Love the composition, a beautiful location.

Wonderful scenery, it reminds me a bit of mt rainier up north, well done

Hello Steven,
Very happy to see that you post again on TN. It was a long silence..I hope that you are allright and that life gives you what you desire.
Thanks so much for having liked my last flower shot.. je suis très touchée.
Your view on the Three Fingered Jack reminds me postal carts we used to have in the past, looking like some paintings, which is what you wanted to reach, I believe. I didn't know that you are a painter too! Anyway very special posting of a very beautiful area.
Un grand merci
Amitiés
Anne

Hello Steven,
If you hadn't mentioned in your notes that this is actually a photo, I would never have guessed it. It looks like a fine painting with it's gorgeous pastel colors and soft lighting. Love the majestic mountains in the BG framed by the beautiful pines. A super shot indeed!!

Hallo Steve
I am on my way for a days training in Durban, but had to stop by and tell you that it is good to see another posting from you, and this one is a real piece of art. Almost like a drawing, but a definite postcard image. It is almost dreamlike. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
