[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi All,
I'm back! Actually we've been back for a couple of weeks but took some time to organize my photo libraries and backup my computer files etc. etc. We've been on three trips lately and this is the first posting from the first of the three.

We made a spring trip to various wildlife refuges in central Oregon. Most of central and eastern Oregon is high desert...even referred to as "Oregon's Outback". In this area in spring, there is still water for migrating water fowl. Now, today (mid July), large portions of central Oregon are ablaze with wildfire.

Dang this is good. Two things strike me. One is the clarity and color combined. And second is the synchronization of this location with me. My relatives came out from Indiana at the turn of the century 1800-1900 and settle in high desert Sherman County north of this place. I know the area well. You can get land there cheap because of the lack of potable water...It is nice to have you back. You are a teacher...and I have a new camera:-) We'll have fun!

Bob
Only 5 hours north of this place...shoulda' stopped in...

Hello Evelynn,
A very beautiful scene. Your shot has everything a great FG and depth of image but I love the sky. The contrast between land and sky colours are really well captured.
regards
Matt.

Hello Evelynn

The sky colours are deep blue and well saturated.it looks like you could reach up and grab the clouds. The blue is contrasted nicely by the browns of the grasses in the foreground. The water cuts through the shot in a lovely diagonal direction leading to a distant point of perspective.I hope you had a great time stomping around Oregon.TFS

Wow, what I would give to see and feel some open natural space right now, penned in as I am right now with skyscrapers and double decker buses and millions of people in Hong Kong.
Your picture captures the wide-open skies and wide-open spaces of the Oregon Outback. I love the colors and the depth of the scenery.
Hope the fires will be under control soon.
TFS. : )

You found a really nice spot to take this scene from. I like how it all goes together at the center. That is good perspective. Sounds like a good time was had.
Welcome Back.

Hi Evelynn,
Sorry, didn't manage to do anything yesterday. I am glad to see you did post a photo again. I hope you had a good break from TN. Sometimes this can be a good thing.
And you mentioned that there wasn't much to see in Oregon. So far your photos from your state are impressive. I think I would like the outback as well. I like the diagonal line in this photo and the balance you were able to create by the mountain and the grasses in the FG. Great work on the exposure and getting these wonderful colors.
TFS,
Niek

Lovely landscape Evelynn, wonderful colors and contrast in a very pleasing composition. I like it!
Yes, the wildlfires are really bad right now in many areas of the west :(
Very well done.
Howard

Wonderful scene, Evelynn. I don't usually think of Oregan as this brown. It reminds me more of the praries. Nice capture of the grass in the fg. Really good job with the sky -- no grad filter or polarizing filter to knock it down? Anyway, it's good to see you back and posting. (Niek on the same day. Is that a coincidence or what?)
Mike

Nicely composed with a beautiful sky of puffy clouds! Welcome back!

Fantastic exposure on this wonderful landscape shot Evelynn. This is a really rich picture, the golds to the blues are absolutely beautiful in this Oregon scene. :)

Hello Evelynn,
I'm envious of your sky!
We had a lot of this last summer but hardly at all this year...
A lovely landscape, great colour palette in this fine composition!

Hello Evelynn,
Nice vista...
I wonder whether the 'river' to the left is natural or not?
Well done
