Male Brewer's Black Bird, Euphagus cyanocephalus
The bird was perched directly above peering down at me.
The striking feature of this bird is the "flatness" of the face with the eyes that seemingly are placed not on the usual sides of the head, but in front. This would indeed give this bird much better depth perception perhaps than some other birds whose eyes are placed more lateral on the head. |
