Hi all!

During the past few days, our TN friends Evelynn and Bob have posted a couple of pictures from the USA that remembered me my wedding trip in 1982 or my trip through the Western National Parks in 1998, before I took part in the World Championship of Boomerang Throwing in St. Louis. Evelynn was talking about the Arches National Park and the Delicate Arch in the posting she dedicated to me. I then scanned one of my slides and decided to make a short break of my Flysch postings.

Arches National Park is an U.S. national park in southern Utah. It is known for preserving over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch, in addition to a variety of unique geological resources and formations.

Arches National Park is located near Moab, Utah, and is 119 square miles (310 km2) in size. Its highest elevation is 5,653 feet (1,723 m) at Elephant Butte, and its lowest elevation is 4,085 feet (1,245 m) at the visitor center. Since 1970, forty-three arches have toppled because of erosion.

Let's hope that this beautifil work of art will last for some years...

I would like to thank Evelynn for her attention with this picture.

Kind regards

Hi Marcus. And you managed to go here on your wedding trip lucky you. All 26 years ago. This looks an amazing place , nature has made a beautiful place and you have brought it for use to see. TFS.

Hello my friend Markus,
Thank you for this beautiful posting of the well known Arch from the US!
captured well with good pov of the Arch, the colouration is truly awesome with good sharpness and good details of it
well done
take care and sincere regards

Hello Markus,
Fascinating content and apparently the right moment as well due to these dark clouds background-wise and the general lighting conditions.
Very good work and thanks for sharing it.

Hello Markus very good capture. Well composed interestingly only natural arch illuminated and color looks awesome. Well preserved for 10 years. Well done. Regards - Adil.

Now that is one cool slide scanner..I know that machine and if I had slides like this, I would second mortgage Jane to get one:-) NOT! I have nothing left to mortgage. I think I already owe Mr Rockefeller too much...A Wonderful grand image. You must have had a great time..You saw something I have not seen....Tres! something...or bien!

Hola Markus.
Hermosa panorámica y buen encuadre,
selecto trabajo y pov.

Hi Markus
Great landscape. Great light, perfect exposure, good contrast. Saturated colors on foreground and cold grey and blue in background Great shot

Hi Markus,
I too posted Delicate Arch today. I love your version with the sunlit arch against that dark sky and landscape. How did you manage to get all of the people out of the picture? A bunch of photographers all started yelling at them and they finally got the not so subtle hint. It is a special arch for sure and I am surprised that I had been to Arches Park several times before I actually made the trip up to it. That was probably because it was summer, and we couldn't park our camper anywhere.

It's a great picture. Thanks for sharing it.

Evelynn : )

Hi Markus, a great natural formation in Arches National Park from the S Utah and perfect landscape shot too.
Many thanks for sharing this.

A really great photo of this perfectly lit arch against a dark blue sky and well placed in the frame. Beautiful!

Hi Marcus,

Nice capture with the clouds adding to the image. I saw Evelyn's posting and looked for yours. wonderfull how different lighting can make a difference.

Hi Marcus.

A stunning landscape and so well captured, the lighting is superb, excellent detail and d.o.f, just beautiful, t.f.s

Cheers Rick :)

Hi Markus

A great shot - I love the cool tones and the effect of the cloud edge. Wonderful work.

This is wonderful thing Markus! You visited amazing place, great not only for geologists but for all nature lovers! I must note this area, maybe some day I would be able to go there ;>
Amazing landscape and very beautiful picture! I wouldn't say that this is scanned photo. Natural, vivid colours, very good sharpness and clarity. Nothing to critique :>
Best regards from Lodz,

Hi Markus!

This image is a bit strange to see from you, as it is not from the Alps :) But it still carries your way of seeing, it was not you if there was no mountain in a landscape! Lighting also brings something special with the shadow just stopping before the arch. And what makes it really yours is the perfect geometry in the composition, and the perfectly balanced expo! Very nice answer to a dedication. TFS!

Best regards,

u r lucky to get this light in the arch, TFS, this is just amazing, Ori

Bonjour Markus,

Bravo, donc

Hello Markus,
One of the most photographed Arches in the world, I think. Superb light and colours in this photo. Fantastic with these dark clouds. Great sharpness and composition.
Kind regards,

Guten Tag Markus-

Beautiful shot of one of my favorites and indeed one of the most photographed in the world. My large poster of the same arch from my last visit there in 1990 has faded so much that I will need another (both visit and poster). With all the collapses, this is a good time to go back. You never know which one will be next. I lived in Salt Lake City for 4 years and spent lots of time in Arches, so this makes me want to get some of my many slides scanned. Its good to see your luck with the Nikon 9000. If I do some scans, I'll have to post some here.

Hi Markus.
I only can dream about such landscape masterpiece. Bravo. Simply outstanding shot by pictured scene and quality of the shot. I only do not agree with specification of the shot as W/B. Simply amazing lights and colours. Sharpness of all details is razor. POV and composition are the best too. Thanks for watch pleasure and kind regards.

Hi Markus,
I just saw that you and Evelynn posted a photo of the same arch but year appart. Its great to see that nothing has changed inbetween.
The light in this photo is probably the best part of the entire photo. It illuminated the arch perfectly and gave wonderful contrast against the dark moody sky. I can imagine that, for you, standing here was very special. Not only the spectacular view, but also beeing here on your wedding trip.

Hi Markus

Splendid view of this delicate arch from you, too. I like to compare your shot with Evelynn's :)
The light here is amazing and the contrast it results in is lovely! I like how the arch itself is illuminated by the warm sunlight while the BG is so dark and cold...it makes the scenery look like from a film :)
Wonderful composition and spot-on exposure here, in my opinion.
I don't know if you've used any filtes for this, but if you didn't, the shot is even more valuable!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Markus
I love rocks and their natural beauty. I'm guessing this is a morning shot as the mountain are in the background and the light on the arch is on the east side?? Very picturesque, the rock, surrounding area, vegetations and sky. A really nice landscape.

What an amazing arched edifice this is. And all natural, worn away over millions of years, and now quite an exceptional work of art.
I hope it's still there.

What a lovely shot, Markus!I saw another one of this place last night, Evelynns' shot. Both equally beautiful., equally different.
Very well done, my friend!

Hallo nochmals, Markus,

Hello Markus,

A fine trip for a honeymoon.
Was this the bridal arch?

The details are awe inspiring!
The horizonal layers follow one after the other with different colours and different textures. Quite magnificent!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Marcus.
Thanks for your comment.
Wow.... I see you have this view too. Saw Evelynns.
I do like this natural structure.
Your lighting on it glows. I still say that looks like some foot at the right bottom. I would love to see something like this one day.

I remember this place from Evelynn's posting. It's beautiful. Light and colors are amazing! Very well composed and exposed image with great POV, DOF and scenery. TFS
All the best,

Bonjour Markus
j'ai parcouru ton album, bravo de très belles photos de notre bonne vieille terre avec toutes ces décorations, j'ai retenus celle-ci car elle m.attirait par la couleur de la pierre et la forme naturel de l'arche, belle présentation.

Nice! I have seen this in a book before. Very nicly captured, and a good lighting to it, with the dark clouds behind. Thanks for sharing! Cheers Josh Lewis.

Hello Markus.

Excellent image, nice composition and colors.

Jose Luis.

Markus, I compliment you on this photgraph capture! The colors, composition and landscape are absolutely extraordinary. If there was any country in the world that I would love to live in, outside of my present location in the U.S.A. it would be Switzerland. Such beauty and grace are incorporated into Switzerland's make up that I cannot imagine anyone NOT wanting to live there. As I peruse more of your gallery I will make further comments. Being new to TN I am selecting photographs and persons that I find extremely interesting.

Hallo Markus
What a lovely combination of elements of nature all in one beautiful, almost historical landscape. The assortment of colours of the various elements compliments each other so well. It is a great pleasure to look at these rock formations so close to the eye, yet so far away. Indeed a lovely scenery. In my opinion is that this image in actual fact belongs in the text books of Geography students. Thanks for sharing such an amazing view. Kind regards
