The title is a bit of inside humor, I'm afraid, though it works for this subject anyway. In the original shot , posted on TE, you can see traces of pink that is actually my finger! So who hath seen the wind send these milkweed seeds hither and yon? You! And the wind is my finger!

This plant is famous because of its desired food for the Monarch Butterfly caterpillars. The flowers are lovely, too. I always wanted to get a shot like this; it's a fairly popular subject. So when I was driving home and saw this seed head opening, I stopped the car, took a black cloth from my camera bag for a background and took the shot. For TN, I thought a b/w version would be nice, since we have so much lovely color on the site.

The milkweed's "milk" is acidic and poisonous to many animals. Since a monarch caterpillar feeds on milkweed exclusively, it absorbs these poisonous substances into its body. For this reason, the monarch tastes awful--and is indeed poisonous--to many of its predators.

Very good shot David, now I have become the flicker of weeds. I really like the composition and use of B&W. Great details and good note. Well done.

I like very much this version in B&W, details are magnificent, the composition in diagonal is pleasant. Thank you for the sharing of your secrets, I hold the idea of the box or the black veil. A good shot!

J'aime beaucoup cette version en N&B, les détails sont magnifiques, la composition en diagonal est plaisante. Merci pour le partage de vos secrets, je retiens l'idée du carton ou du voile noir. Un beau travail.

I've just had a look on TE and the colour version is just stunning, you have captured it perfectly (even with your thumb ;-) ). The b&w is incredibly arty and like you say, very different for TN. It works well.
A stunning image, great composition and very sharp.
Thanks for posting.

Hello David

Wow... fantastic. I love this in B&W. Very artistic shot. Aesome details and the glow from the center is wonderful. Great work. Thanks.

Hi David,
This is a fantastic shot!
Perfect exposure, wonderful lighting, excellent composition.

Hi David,
I would recognize your style here without signature :-). You always provide unxpected images with a great sense of composition, out of the common tracks. This one is no exception, with a personal touch added to get this kind of artistic image. Photography is also experimenting. You show it very cleverly here. Well done. Have a good sunday.

Hello David, Well done in B&W. It creates a nice effect isolating your subject to make it stand out very well. Great texture and details combined with an interesting note make this an excellent post, Well done!

Excelente composição. Muito boa B&W!!!!
Sua fotos estão muito boas...

Hello David, really well done and well thought of for a B&W, I agree and to have a black background is perfect. By the way, I love B&W photos.

I love the form of the miklweed, so tiny so delicate. And your definition is perfect. Nice contrast.

No wonder you have so many points with this photo. Take care, Yan

David, I checked the original shot, and black-and-white was a great choice. It gives the picture an artistic touch.

I read the note about the original shot; I've never used a black card to these kinds of photos. I guess I'll try it today.

Congratulations on this pleasant shot.

what you photographed is really original cheer
