It seems as though our children leave the nest at such a young age these days. Here we have nature mimicking family life. But these two eventually came back to the flock in the pond. Sometimes our young children do not come back. Too old. Too quickly. Where has all the time gone. Have we really become this old?

I need not explain to you the Canadian Geese. For some see them as pests in a round about way. Others see them in a more natural setting. Some see them as both. I wonder how they see themselves...my mind wander when I sit down on a sunny day at the lakeside where these geese are calling for for a short time. Yesterday I saw the large formations heading south, twice I saw them....then a bit later I saw a formation headed north. It was almost like a changing of the guard.

The Original B&W movie "Scrooge" ends with Scrooge happy as can be to be still alive after his night filled with terror...and he flips open a second story window crying out to a child below and asking if "that goose" was still hanging in the store. So he bought the goose and sent it to his clerk and family. He overworks and underpays his humble clerk, Bob Cratchit, whose little son For some peoples this is a traditional dinner. It has been for me as well every year at Christmas. I perhaps think in two completely different mind sets...it never comes to me what I am actually sacrificing at Xmas...and it's okay. I/We are only human. I am not a Vegan. I am a carnivore. Apologies to some who eat only beans and rice almost as a Vegan Religion or as in Punjab province, no meat for the more Orthodox aesthetics. They do not judge me though. Some of my best friends are from Punjab state.

I love how the one little guy has decided to venture his own direction. There's always one of those in the crowd, right! ha ha

Hi Bob,
the moment you've chosen to capture here has created a lovely composition, very artful the way they are placed so perfectly around the frame.
The panoramic crop suits the shot very well and i love the blue of that placid looking water. You've turned a scene that alot of people would merely glance at into something special.

Hi Bob,

Lovely scene of the parents and children in the nice blue water. Mom and Dad don't seem concerned that the young ones are exploring. The quails exhibit the same behavior and as soon as the parents start to leave the babies all run to catch up.

Hi Bob,

A flock of these flew literally feet over my head this lunchtime as I was taking pictures in St James Park, typically as I was putting my camera away - this seems to happen quite frequently and I miss so many shots. Anyway, at least you didn't miss you shot, which I really like.

Gee, this reminds me of myself when I was young. I love it when animals have a mind of their own! Actually, I like the composition of this. The water is a striking blue and that contrasts against the geese. I also love the rippled. Nice exposure as well. :)

Hi Bob,
Wonderful shot and a great title......portraying a truth of life. But many places we know today would never have been known if someone somewhere had not ventured out with a free mind and great will. The search for that elusive goal have made humans wander out, however the roots have always remained imbedded and a strong desire to return to that is a crave I know burns within everyone who have left their dear ones behind.
Great POV presenting a side of life which though painful is so desirous for the survival of mankind. Kudos.

beautiful photo in panorama framing,
i see that you went to 1/30s
with my camera i never can go that slow
because of the image stabiliser that i don't have

with the framing, the think that i love most from your image
is that 2 different specie of water bids and each speecie
is taking a direction on water (laugh - rire)
