Great pose - an ideal moose shot - I am always too early too see a full rack of antlers . The composition is great with the moose to one side and I really like the colours in the OFF BG.

Welcome back, Evelynn. : )
I love the mood of this image.
It is in great part due to the soft warm pastels in the BG, contrasted with the dark and stark shape of the moose.
I think the narrow band of details in focus in the foreground accentuate the feel of DOF, which I think comes across quite well.
But I do absolutely love the colors in the BG.
TFS. : )

Another fantastic picture. I love the feel of the picture, and although the difference is almost imperceptible, one can tell that it was taken with good equipment.
Great composition, great pose. May I say that your photography has taken a step up in the time that I was away, if possible? It is really great work. 4/5

Good morning to mr. Moose from me too :)
This is a terrific shot from you, one with impeccable details and a splendid and spot-on DOF, despite the not-ideal condition of the morning light.
The frontal POV is outstanding, too, not only for the angle for the moose, but also because of the great contrast it gave you between the subject and the BG.
Superb composition and presentation!
Bravo and TFS
You make me crazy when you say "wasted shot"! I think this is fantastic. The nice colours surrounding the moose, plus the excellent pose is something I would love to capture one day.
It would have been wasted if you did not take this shot.

I like this too, I think you captured the moose in a nice serene moment. The DOF is good and softens the whole look of your image. The moose is standing so nicely and over all I like this portrait. The colours are great.
The tongue sticking out immediately caught my eye. It made the shot a bit funny. I agree on the exposure on the darker parts. My monitor shows some color noise in the most darker area. The aperture seems to be pretty good, even the back of the moose shows good details. The details in the head and antlers is stunning. I think that when you had panned down a bit more the photo would be even better. This allowed you to not cut of the toes and would have lost the darker top in the BG.
Wow. This is wonderful. Good use of 600mm here. I could tell from the colors of the plants where this guy was. I was shooting the sunrise here a couple weeks earlier and, while checking the image on my camera, said "What is that dark spot?" Turned out to be this guy or his brother. You can actually see them in the 18mm shots (but just barely). It's amazing to see what you did with this big lens combo. I'm OK with the lack of hooves, because I think they're hidden behind the grass here (I bet you have a couple of other shots that might have them though), but I would crop out that dark part on top, leaving the shot to fade to a soft blur (because I think it leaves the eye and the story about Mr. Moose).
P.S. Just a bit more tone adjustment to brighten the midrange on the moose?

Wow Evelynn, whata superb capture! There have been a few Moose (Mooses??) on TN recently, but this has to be one of the best. A lovely composition and great job on retaining detail in that dark coat. The setting of long grasses and that pinkish BG is stunning.
great image of the buck of north america's greatest wild animal,
great background of the natural habitat,
excellent sharpness and details of the moose
and i like the pov, this is a EXCELLENT PHOTO

Certainly not a wasted shot. This is quite lovely. The soft BG in the lovely colours makes a beautiful setting for the moose. Perfectly framed and I love the tongue sticking out

Hello Evelynn , Exelent shot I'ts a beauty , great pose colours sharpnes details and bg ,tfs Greetings Teunie .
this photo is very good considering the time of day you mention.I see nothing about it that is bad or poor in terms of quality and I for one wish I had just such an image in my personal collection. As you mention the background focus is soft and the moose has a mellow glow about him.One thing I like is his tongue is hanging out a little and that is kinda cute if you ask me.Thanks for showing us this big boy in a natural pose. Your are right. The animal, lights and colours are the key points of the shot. Your own critique is the best. But if to apply your advices the shot will be another. Great art and wild picture. Bravo and TS.

Wow ! Very good capture of that big guy, I think the 'problems' you had with the exposure and DOF make it a very fine shot, it gives a different atmosphere to the shot. I really like it ! Thanks Evelynn.
So close sharp and detailed. A pure marvel.
I might have chosen a vertical framing instead of a squared one. The foot are so close to the frame. (A small nit only)

Great composition and warm coulors.
A nice shot on one of my favourit animals. As Im from the north of Sweden the Moose has an important place in dayly life, both as a lovely animal and as food.
I was in GT NP and Yellowstone NP back in the late 90:s and had some wonderful days there.
