I was attracted to the range of values in this scene. I like the very dark and the very light... however it was next to impossible to get this to upload with the correct balance... and I have no idea how many of you are seeing it. I like the transient autumn color along with the evergreen. I also liked the three lighter elements crossing the frame. I am always attracted to three.

Oh yes! This deserves special attention :)

First, i took a long look at the picture, then i read your notes and then i took an even longer look :) I know see what you mean.
Even if i'm not that great and "naming" colors (medically, my problem is in saying what color an object has, not in seeing the difference between them) i really like your way of looking at this piece of nature.
Starting with the very careful composition here and placing the vertical trees in the horizontal frame, this is so well thought of.
The contrast here really plays an important role...and you managed to emphasize that well.
The different variations in the colors of the leaves and coniferous needles are also very attracting and eye-catchy.
The DOF is also very good and doesn’t leave any important element out of focus.
All-in-all: a very unique photo and an interesting way of looking at things. I've always been a big fan of originality and this is one good example why. Can't wait to see more of these :)

Bravo and TFS

Hi Evelynn,
This shot drew me out of my cave and caused me to post a pic.
The contrasts are really cool! Nice shot!

Hi Evelynn

You are right - and this is a lovely shot - lovely contrast of colours and forms.

Hi Evelynn, fascinating autumnal composition with wonderful warm colors, fantastic light, very well done, have a nice week end, ciao Silvio

Hi Evelynn,
Always have loved the white bark on trees against the colors of any leaves . This one with the orange and reds, just beautiful. Amazing world we live in if we just stop and look eh? Thanks for sharing the beauty.

You do have a knack with this M.O.,
and it is indeed very effective.
The contrast of the foliage against the white tree trunks is striking and works every time.
The warm autumn colors are wonderful.

Hello Evelynn

A beautiful autumnal scene. It reminds me of group of seven.
The composition is lovely with vertical elements well balanced.
The colours are rich and natural. The reds are well saturated and contrast well against the white bark of the trees.
Very good POV and DOF.
The focus is sharp with excellent details.

Hi Evelynn,
I agree with you, the range of values in this photo is wonderful. The bright skin of the Aspen do pop out from the rest of the wooded scenery and the red colored leaves add a good touch of warmth. I think that when you tone down the green in the conifers the darkness becomes even better.

It is a most beautiful shot. I have had opportunities in my mountains but did nothing:( These are FINE birch trees. Every time I see this bark peeling away I am reminded of how natives used to make canoes of the bark.I think it was back in Minnesota and Wisconsin when I first learned about this deal. Anyway it is a fine fall shot...nicely done.
