Another capture from Six Mile Cypress Preserve, I had about 3 seconds to take this particular photo! It was the only shot I got of this Little Blue Heron and White Ibis together. I could have kicked myself for cutting off the herons feet. Darn! But still a pretty cool picture, I think. :) Hope that you all like it!

I'll be back tonight to see every ones work!

Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve Info:

This 2,200-acre site acts a natural corridor for wildlife by connecting northern Lee County to Estero Bay. There is a 1.2-mile boardwalk trail, a photo blind, two observation platforms, and an informative pamphlet. Five distinct plant communities, including cypress swamp, are present on this site. Guided tours are offered. In addition, the preserve contains a picnic area and an amphitheater.

Watchable wildlife:
Look for little blue herons, anhingas, American alligators, raccoons, and red-shouldered hawks throughout the year. River otters, bobcats, and white-tailed deer are sometimes seen. During the dry season (October-May), water pools in depressions in the slough, concentrating fish and wading birds feeding on them, including wood storks, white ibis, great egrets, snowy egrets, and tricolored-colored herons. October and April are good times to visit the preserve to search for migrating warblers.

Hi Angela,
Well done to capture these two beauties together. The Heron almost looks like a statue. Nice image in lovely surroundings.
Cheers,
Debbie

Hi Angela,
Good capture of these two birds together. Great sharpness and details and nice surroundings. TFS
Cheers Tina :-)

Good shot! You have to think quick and I usually cut off my feet in my excitement. I love the Ibis in his breeding colors.

Hi Angela,
It is great to see two species in one picture. POV and composition are great. Love this vivid colors and natural settings. TFS this nice image.

Hi Angela,
this is not an easy shot with one white and one dark bird.
The white is a bit overexposed but the dark one is nice wiht good details in the plumage.
Nice composition and colours.
Well done.

Hi Angela,

Great picture even without the feet. You were so lucky to get the two birds. They are sharp with great details and colors and in a beautiful setting.

Jane

Nice photo. It is cool to see two different species in one photo. It is pretty rare. Beautiful colors too.

Hello Angela

A great capture despite the feet. The focus is excellent with sharp details. The colours are well saturated and you got very good light. The setting is very nice too, with the water hyacinths in the background.Really well done in a split second.TFS

Hi Angela

As you say, an unusual shot with both species together. Also difficult shot with the white and dark birds together. I think this is a really good shot.

James

Hi Angela

These two make a lovely pair. Lucky you to be at the right place at the right time. It is a real shame you have cut the legs off the Little Blue Heron, and the white of the White Ibis is very over exposed. I would have liked to see your EXIF data but that was not made available. TFS.

Hello Angela
outstanding capture...the composition is very origunal, black and white opposite colours, the birds have opposite poses!
great colours and sharpness is perfect!
best regards

pedro

Hi Ange,
I always like to get these two for one shots. A difficult exposure with the White Ibis, dark plumage of the Little Blue, and very bright sunlight. I think you managed to balance it as best as possible.
Well composed (Except for the cutting of on the feet)Nice sharp detail.
Looks like a place I'll need to visit.
Scott

What a great shot . Detail and color are good , and two different birds , wow . TFS , Kevin .
