Hello All, :)

It's yet another Heron! Aren't you surprised?

Today I thought I would share, this close up of a Green Heron. It was right after Tropical Storm Barry had passed over Duck Key. The rain was a welcome treat for all of us, especially the wildlife. It also kept most of the tourists out of my hair, that made it perfect.

Some Notes on the Green Heron from eNature:

The Green Heron is rather solitary, feeding alone or in pairs. A wary bird, it erects its short crest, straightens its neck, and nervously flicks its short tail when alarmed. It is often first noticed when it flushes unexpectedly from the edge of the water and flies off uttering its sharp call. Our smallest heron except for the diminutive Least Bittern, the Green Heron preys on a wide variety of insects, frogs, and small fish; its broad diet enables it to breed on small inland ponds and marshes that won't support other herons. It stretches its neck and bill forward as if taking aim, and, after a few elaborately cautious steps, seizes the fish with a jab of its bill.

Nice subject, but it appears as though some cloning was done around his bill, perhaps to remove an errant leaf. I think I would have preferred the leaf in its natural state even though it was across the bill.

the eye looks very nice interesting subject and composition. the colors seem a bit off and the bird, other htan the eye seems to be a bit out of focus.

Angela, nice to see your shot. you were missing from TN for sometime. Very sharp and clear shot. Ganesh

HI Ange,
Nice frame filling portrait on this Green Heron. I never tire of herons! Besides you live in Florida, there everywhere. I have always loved the colors in the plumage on these guys. Trouble is I don't have one decent shot of Green Heron!

I got your e-mail and will repond with a proper response asap. Going out of town to a wedding this weekend.

Hi Ange,
You always seem to be able to capture the emotion in your subjects eyes...Nice detail...Like a Black-crowned Night-Heron, it has a white stripe below the bill that, from a distance, gives the impression of a mouth...Great colors...TFS

Hi Ange,
First a couple of nits, Focus is just a tad off in my opinion and the bill looks a little strange from some pp. I love the composition and the brilliant colors you have captured, thanks for sharing.
