I wanted something special for my 100th post but time and opportunity have been scarce the last week. Coming across the Causeway onto Galveston Island, I spied a waterspout crossing Offatts Bayou. By the time I had gotten off the freeway it had moved across the Island and was crossing Pelican Island and Galveston Bay. Three seperate funnel clouds were spotted around Galveston that day. Waterspouts are a common summer occurrence and very seldom do any damage, usually staying over the water. But it can be a little unnerving when you're out fishing in a small boat on the bay and you look up to see one moving in your direction. It is an amazing sight to be close to one on the water. They look enormous as you have to look almost straight up to see the top.

Thanks for all the support and advise that has been given over the past months. Participating in TrekNature has enhanced the way I view the World.

Best regards,
Jim

Hi JIm,
what scarry action you capture,
great shot, TFS. Best regards/Lawhill

I like it Jim. I saw it on CNN as well...Very good capture of the moment eh?

Bob

très impressionnant et la composition avec la grue est magnifique.
Bravo
Marie

I guess you posted this in the afternoon - I didn't come back to look.
Amazing shot!!!
WOW!
I'm jealous.

Cool shot of a waterspout and interesting with that crane and power/phone lines in the image, too.

The blue/gray colors of the clouds and spout give it a brooding, menacing feel.

Great shot for a 'milestone' posting.

TFS, Mish

Hi Jim,
Congratulations on your 100th and most dramatic photo. It is great example of nature and the dark shades of blue add to the drama of the moment. I enjoyed this!
Ken
