Hello Ken,
Well composed and sharp image...
I have my doubts about your n°1 though...
For example Canon is saying that it is better to use 200 and 400 than 100. You can't really compare it with analog photography.
We are talking about sensors and not film.
About n°2 and 3 I think this depends on the lens...
Anyway when you deliver quality images such as this one then theory and techtalk doesn't really matter.
Well done
TFS

Very nice detail Ken, this obelisking pose is quite the norm in the hot summers we are experiencing in the south.
So thanks to Loot we finaly see some real good images posted by you Ken........hehehehehehehe.....lol :)
Serious now: This again is a real great dragonfly image. Excellent work!!!!
Composition and sharpness are superb while details, colors and the wonderfully matching soft BG color tones are very beautiful.
Pity light seems to have been a little harsh wich gave some hot spots on the twig, but that's just a minor flaw.
A real joy to look at.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a nice Sunday,
Harry

Hi Ken
Indeed I am very proud and highly honoured to receive this dedication. This is a great capture of a beautiful dragonfly and a well prepared posting presented in exquisite fashion. However, I feel I should take very little credit for your advancement (Gert Ellstrom also had a great role to play), but I believe it was mostly in your able hands, keen eye, and willing spirit to make a slight gear change and deliver the goods in excellence.
Just remember another thing, although one might have a specific or ± recipe that works well under certain conditions there still remains great variability within photography. In many ways it is not an exact science and numerous variations within conditions might determine various deviations on the tried and tested application. This is where accumulated experience is of the utmost value to be able to correctly read the circumstances and adapt your strategy accordingly.
The result you have captured here sure is worth a WOW. That BG is absolutely amazing, the colours are splendid, the details are razor sharp even throughout most of the depth range of the wings, and the composition is magnificent. The only slight nit, repeat slight nit, (and this may only be due to a difference in monitor settings) is the aspect which Harry (Proframe) addressed, namely a little harshness in the lighting that created a wee bit of OE on the twig. Be alert for this and take note if there might be any variation between the completed photo as displayed on your normal viewer or PP software on your PC and ultimately the viewer that displays the photo on TREKNature. There might be a slight difference and it could impact on all your hard and dedicated PP work. If need be you obviously have to adapt your PP work to compensate for the possible change.
Great work and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Ken,
this is very good picture with fine details and sharpness,
the low ISO and F10 really pays off.

It's ROBO-dragonfly! How cool - it looks like its made of gold. Gorgeous!
Perfect composition with an extremely flattering bg.
Great!
Now I"m going to read what you and Vanderschelden are talking about - maybe I can learn something because I don't know anything about this tech-talk. :)

Hi Ken,
Fantastic shot the sharp it can be,
natural colors, great exposition, TFS. Best regards/Lawhill
salut Ken
exceptionnelle image, ce zoom offre de grandes possibilités, je me demande s'il n'est pas mieux que le 100-400.
La position est géniale, acrobatisque, pure et esthétique. Magnifique gestion des différents paramètres.

Excellent dragonfly! Sharp and colorful! Great background.
It's tough for me to use ISO 100 a lot of times. If I sacrifice anything, I give up the ISO.
Thanks for the great image,

Hello Ken,
This is a great macro photograph and a great dedication! It proves that you learned how to maximize the DOF and how to get most out of your lens.
Composition:
The composition is flawless! You present us the dragonfly in an aesthetic pose against a perfect background which isolates it perfectly. The empty space around the subject is also well distributed while the most important area of the composition (the area around the dragonfly's head) falls into one of the strongest points of the image. I also appreciate the lack of distracting objects in your composition! Excellent job!
Colors:
The natural and well saturated colors are enhanced by the metallic shine of the dragonfly's body. The colors in the background are also very important in this picture.
Contrast:
The contrast seems to be well adjusted!
Exposure:
The exposure was handled very well rendering every detail in the dragonfly's body perfectly. Here I agree with Loot when he said that the highlights in the branch are a little bit overexposed. I think this could be avoided if shooting when the sun is very low in the sky. Of course, it would have been difficult to stop down to f/10 in those conditions if shooting handheld.
Focus:
Focus is perfect! Right on the dragonfly's body with the wings reaching out from the focal plane into the blurred area of the DOF. This rendered sharp details in the subject.
An excellent image showing improvements in your photographic skills! The great notes complete your post! Thank you for sharing!
With Friendly Regards,
Eddie
