[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I made this image during a photo trip I lead to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in June. These were by far the most common songbird on the coastal plains. This, and all the images from that trip, were made in a part of the refuge the Bush administration would like to open to drilling. Let's make sure that doesn't happen, and this bird is one more reason why.

This is a wonderful, sharp image, David. What interesting markings on your little Lapland Longspur. I love all the toning colors and the wonderful out of focus background. I have just about given up all hope when it comes to the Bush administration! The privatization of so much of the park service has really got my feathers ruffled. I think that global warming + this administration = catastrophe!... but I try to keep my spirits up and do what I can for the future of little birds like this...

Hi David,
rarely I have seen this beautiful bird in summer plumage. A very nice picture. A perfectly blurred and colored background in which the bird stands out well. In my personal humble opinion the bird is slightly positioned too high in the picture. I have the feeling of wanting to look a little higher in the picture...
Cheers, Jacob
