It was a slow day and I had the time to wander the dusty backroads. So many sights to see in fall and if one doesn't catch them quickly, a rain or windy day will take it way in the blink of an eye. For the most part, it is eye candy I use the word eye candy for pictures which cannot be truly captured, only things which can be seen in person...in a moment of space and time. Life is like that.

I cannot imagine how we came to love this season, considering how we were raised as children. In my world as well as my wife's, as kids we were to rake the leave's after they fall. Sometimes this could mean 2-3 weeks of raking. Now back when I was an only child living in a remote wilderness section of Ohio, we could jump in the leafs...and later when the pile became large enough...my father would light the pile on fire. We sat around near the fire as it burned and smell the smell which only dried leaves can give off. It was one sign of the end of fall and the coming of the higher Holidays in both Episcopalian and Catholic Churches. It marked a time closing in on to the Octave of Christmas....It was time for grand music written by baroque composers....and candles suddenly appear from cupboards...which we lit as if to expect some visitor in the cold forested night. My father sat quietly by the fireplace smoking his pipe...until my eyes could not longer stay open. I went to bed with thoughts and smells still with me. This was and is a season of glory in nature which has a profound effect on some....

My mind thinks ahead. If we are to have a goose for Xmas as was done in the original Scrooge of decades ago, then this would be the time...For squirrels fall is collecting nuts and foods for winter. So why not for humans as well....Although I dislike killing for the sake of sport, I do enjoy a fine celebration of the Holidays to come. And in this area it means preparing now for the harsh months to some. Soon there will be few days to take pictures. Everything will be white and snow covered...and so it is...four trees...four seasons....

Just like I said before... I absolutely love the golden colours of autumn. This photo is perfect for that, every shade of gold. This has gone straight to my favourites theme :)
+++ Incredible colours and perfect lighting to show them off. Very sharp in each shot. Excellent frame.

Bob,
MY VERY DEAR FRIEND.
I LOVE READING YOUR NOTES.
I LOVE READING YOUR NOTES.
I LOVE READING YOUR NOTES.
Beautiful piece of photography. This reminds me of the song written and sung by the "5 for Fighting". We are here 'but a moment'. Why do we fight and kill each other? We are going to take that journey anyway.
Happy aniversary.
Love to you both,
Mario & Bernardete.

Great montage Bob ! 4 very good pictures of the forest in the fall. Lovely compositions and colors, very good exposures and contrasts. Well done ! Great note too ! Merci mon ami !

Hi Bob,

A rare treat; four for the price of one. I could have looked at each one of these and known immediately who'd taken them. It's that eye for a picture when all around you see nothing but leaves and branches. It's that sixth sence, where eye and mind come together seamlessly and see what the rest of cannot see. However, the image works even better that the sum of its parts, with well chosen and well positioned components. Still only one smiley though :-D :-D :-D

Kind regards,

Mike

Hi Bob

This is a very beautiful collage of what autumn looks like there. I must say that all those colors and that terrific contrast with the darker branches is very eye-catchy :)
Here, unfortunately, fall has come with a lot of rain and bad weather for shooting...but i'm certain that sunny days will come and i might have some chances for some autumnal landscapes.
Anyway, back to your photos, i really like the way you positioned them in the presentation: red on one diagonal and yellow-ish on the other one.
Wonderful work!

Bravo and TFS
Horia
