It's a tough time in the wilderness. Having been stalked by mountain lion and followed closely by black bear.. and watched regularly by smaller species such as coyote and bobcat, this squirrel sort of caught me off guard. It is, after all, in the middle of a small town. I wasn't expecting him to be aggressive. At some point I decided to move away a bit and not threaten him. It must have been something that made him appear to be angry. A fighter he was. He was coming straight at me. I thought he would stop so I just clicked the shutter release...and....left quickly! I did have time after all. It was a 300mm lens and he was about 20 feet from me. And when I moved he changed directions...apparently he felt he had done what he had to. A Squirrel must protect it's territory yes? No wonder they drive out other families of same name.

Hi Bob

Outstanding capture!!!
It's really impressive that you've managed to completly freee the motion of this cute squirrel...i would very much like to know the shutter speed on this one, and the entire exif for that matter.
The full-frontal POV here is equaly amazing...what bait did you use that it was running so fast to you? :))
Anyway, great focsu and sharpness and also very good exposure and light levels.

Bravo and TFS

Dear Bob

Cool! He looks quite serious too. Excellent capture and a great tale! "I fought the squirrel and the squirrel one!" The GEICO squirrels can't compete with this valiant nut warrior...;-)

Hello Bob,
This is a great action capture!
Squirrels are probably the most depicted animal in TN but this is the first time I see one completely airborn...
Good freeze of movement, excellent details in the fur coat; and I notice his focus!!

Hello Bob,
Terrific action shot! I thought he was jumping with joy to see you! But the grey ones seem a lot more agressive than our brown Squirrels. Perfect capture, very sharp and I love the colours of the fur. Well done!

Excellent action shot - superb POV with great detail and colours.

Hi Bob.
Wow, great action shot, even though you could have been on the other end of those claws you stuck fast to get the shot and the squirrel also got what he wanted and that was you outta there. Two happy chappies, all is well.
Beautiful exposure, colour, sharpness and detail, wonderful image.

Hi Bob,
Impressive action shot!
It's so good the frozen movement on the air of that angry squirrel.
It's curious beacause the shadow can't be seen on the ground, but clearly the animal is on a jump.
My compliments and thanks for share it.

Awesome action captured aswell. The way the squirrel is in mid-air running at full pelt. Stunning.
Superb focusing! You've kept this running rodent in perfect focus even when it is coming straight towards you and at speed.
Perfect lighting and natural colours.

Hello Bob,
Splendid action shot, great POV and DOF excellent focus and colors
really well done

Wow! I think this little fellow might be part of the squirrel mafia that I've heard about. Terrific capture! The details are incredible, and talk about action! He's flying through the air and his little claws are straight out. This is one of your best, yet.

Hi Bob!

What an excellent catch! You found the perfect moment to capture this cute little felow!
Thx for sharing!

Hilarious Bob!
Great stop action coming to getcha.
Well done!
Richard... see you later

Hi Bob,
perfect in-flight capture, focussed spot-on, pleasantly rich colours, clear details! Dreadful monster attacking, hiding its bushy tail, mimicking a rabid rat.
The squirrel defending its territory is a good interpretation, another one that I often see in our parks is that our squirrels are expecting being fed by us with peanuts. The ones attacking me have always turned round in two meters distance when realizing my empty hands. Another one that was attacking my daughter was definitely climbing up her trousers because she was the one with peanuts in her hands.
Thank you! My best regards,

A "cute" note.... very very 'personal'.
The image is GRAND.
Sorry I was away so long.
Shall share some of the e-mails I received from my old-time buddy by seperate e-mail. He brought me SAD SAD news.

Hello Bob.

Hi Bob.
Thank you for opportunity to meet your superb photo collection. This one is simply outstanding. Timing and pictured moment are fantastic and unreal. I know features of the S2 Pro a bit. Exposure and colour reproduction are perfect. I also like great POV, tremendous eye-contact and symmetrical composition. Bravo. Great sample for imitating.
P.S. I am grateful to you for accurate definition. I agree with you. Sometimes human traces are looked more attractively than natural objects (for my last picture – than tree branch).

Hi Bob
I was just clicking through some photos of yours when I came across this great shot of this squirrel. Perfect timing on this action shot. He looks pretty determined to scare you off.
Great job on this capture and a very good note to go with it.TFS

How come I never saw this before ?
Well I have now.
This is awesome Bob ... the best shot of yours I've seen I think.
