In order to get any water in this shot I needed a higher vantage point. I had to climb up on the back of the camper and hold on with one hand and shoot with the other. It was such a magic morning that I suppose you will be seeing several more shots taken that morning. Those photographic moments are so fun. One can go for long stretches and see little and then in one frantic half hour take dozens of photos.

I am beginning to think there are computer gremlins that play with my images overnight. I edited this shot last night and it looked fine. This morning it looked way over saturated. I have to figure out what I am doing! I toned it down a bit this morning and resharpened probably at the expense of some resolution... being too lazy to go back and start with the original again. : P

Nice shot and beautiful colors of picture. Well done. Carme.

Hi evelynn,
excellent POV,colors and exposure,TFS.

Hello Evelynn,

So Evelynn, you are being too lazy to go back and start with the original again. Now that is not a problem for me. I like this wonderful capture. What a beautiful striking light over the mountains and trees. A great composition with the pond in the middle. The photo is sharp, with enough fine details. For example the line of trees on the hill at the right side. Regards and TFS BOB

Hi Evelynn

Looking at this sublime capture i feel that this is my big miss of the year - big autumn landscapes. I mean, during spring i took a nice number of shots that i was happy with (various subjects - mostly dragonflies), in the summer i worked a lot but i managed to take some decent shots in the few days off and in my trips, but during fall, i was at home and i had a new equipment that i feel i didn't do anything with really. We have some great sights here, too, but i just didn't do that extra effort to go there and take some lovely pictures...i think i let myself down...but i hope to learn something from this and not make the same mistake next year.
Anyway, this is a splendid view! Truly magnificent set of colors with such a wide range - green, yellow and brown in the tree complemented by the cool greys and blues in the high mountains and clouds.
The composition is also magnificent and you did great to integrate that small patch of water - it really adds a lot in my opinion.
The fact that you also benefited from that superb morning light on that peak on the right side is brilliant and creates such a good contrast in the scene.
I'm probably the last person to give advice on this, but to me the colors seem fine here as well as the details. I can't be sure what causes the differences between the PP of your photos from night and day...is by any chance the monitor facing any window or other source of light - that might affect you perception it the light coming from it.
Anyway, a magnificent shot! Can't wait for the others :)

Bravo and TFS

Hi Evelynn!

I'm not on my calibrated screen, but even on this one your picture looks fine as far as the saturation is concerned.

But more important than this is the fact it is a superb picture that joins the best ingredients for a great landscape picture: trees, a lake, mountains and clouds. All this in a magnificient lighting! Many photographers would be thankfull to be able to take a picture like this one!

Congratulations, Evelynn, you provide us a lot of happiness.

Kind regards

COlours are great Evelynn, I like the saturation and composition. Lovely blue-golden combination. It would be interesting to see what do you feel is over saturated, you know, every monitor and every different light (may be the reason for change of view overnight :-)) makes the result looks different.TFS

Hello Evelynn,
W-O-W, W-O-W, W-O-W !!!
It makes my dreaming!!! WOW (again)...
Excellent DOF!!! and amazing colours.

Hi Evelynn
Wow, Awesome landscape. From the grassy foreground through the reflection in the pond and on up to the great lighting in the mountains. Great exposure, sharpness and wonderful natural colors.
Beautiful job, thanks for sharing.
Did you guys ever make it up to Ridgefield? Tom

Great shot,
Love all the gold,
The clouds and snow look so cold,
Hope you find your gremlins, :-)

Hello Evelynn

Awesome scene!

The colours are striking, gold against the blue contrasts well.
Spot on focus and sharp details. The mountains are majestic and the sun and shadows on them are beautiful.
The low level clouds are a wonderful element.

A pristine view, lovely shot as it shows the colors of the season and the things to come.

What a dramatic scene, Evelynn.
That ominous sky with the dark clouds make a fantastic contrast to the luminous yellow trees. The water gives the composition a focus point, and i like the concentric arcs emanating from it, formed by the mountain slopes and the tree lines.

Hi Evelynn,
wow what a beautiful photo you have in this capture.I commend you on taking the time to climb up on your camper and with one hand snap this photo,it was worth the effort.I love the low light and the way it naturally saturates the colours in the scene. The details are excellent as are the colours and focus. The American west looks so lovely and I must sometime in the future go and see some of the places you have graced TN with. Thanks for giving us all yet another photo of a beautiful place. Hi Evelynn

Great composition - sort of calm (bottom) and storm (top). The contrast in colours and forms is lovely.

I often have the same problem uploading - I get it right and then think - 'oh dear'!

Hi Evelynn
Beautiful shot. Fantastic light, great mood, good sharpness and compo. Fantastic dramatic sky

Hello Evelynn,
What a fabulous view across this wonderful landscape! The colours are amazing and the contrast between the warm yellow and the cold
blue-grey is fantastic. I like the beautiful light and dramatic clouds swirling around the mountain tops. The glimpse of the smooth lake in the centre completes this brilliant capture.
Many thanks, Ulla

Hello Evelynn,
The dramatic sky and the varied light are the eye-catchers!
The strong colours of the autumn foliage contrast so well with the blue mountains...
A classical composition telling the story of seasonal change!

Hi Evelynn.
I suppose that it is impossible to reflect this amazing place better. All is terrific. Pictured landscape, skillfulness of execution, outstanding composition and POV selection, tremendous sharpness of the details of the image. Bravo. The best work.

Wow Evelynn, this is just amazing. I wish I could go to places like this. I have no critique at all just a Perfect shot. Love it.

Hi Evelynn,
This is a real stunner. The way the photo is actually divided in to two parts is great. The cooler color tones in the mountain sky part and the warmer color tones in the valley. The fact that you had the morning light in your back shining on these great mountains is just super. The sky is the best, it set the mood and makes the photo, for me, perfect.

beautiful landscape and colours, even if your picture has a lot of fan I wnat to join the company with my compliments

WOW - what a shot Evelynn

this is stunning.

I love the colours and the darkness split with the light. It is truely strange and wonderful and so like nature. you are so lucky.

As for computer gremlins... remember artifical light can make things look different to natural light... though i was sure it worked the other way round with natural light being less 'red'.

Even so I love the picture. it is amazing (guess I am missing the mountains and this holds everything that I love about them, colour, light, dark, moody, height, distance, snow, clouds...)

Incredible landscape shot! This is perfect, The exposure is spot on and those colors, Wow! The lighting in this is what really make this picture so amazing especially with all that detail. Very nice Evelynn. :)

WoW! If there's a God. He's in this picture. Love it. TFS

Hi Evelynn,

What a beautiful scene, nice detail, good color and the exposure is good too. Excellent!

As some others have suggested, ambient light in the room where your computer is located can have a BIG influence on how the picture looks on the monitor, that's why many digital photographers control the light in the room where they do their optimization work. You want to work with a calibrated monitor and keep the light level in the room quite low for the most accurate results. And neutral-colored walls are even important, as the color of the room can throw off your color perception.
