I photographed this Rocky Mountain sheep in Yellowstone Nat'. Park in the Lamar Valley. Wolves were close by...we'd seen them at a distance and came across a fresh bison kill. This ram was headed in the opposite direction. I kept my distance. You don't want to stress animails in the winter...they need all the energy just to survive. My equipment here was a Canon EOS 1N, Fuji Provia 100, a Canon L-Series f/2.8 70-200 zoom, and a 2X Canon teleconverter.

Hi Ted Alan,
what a nice shot of this mouflon. You captured it with very nice POV/DOF, composition and focus. Small plants under snow very nice for composition of plain color of snow.
I posted another mouflon (Ovis aries ophion) endemic to Cyprus. Yours must be different from them. Ovis canadensis or dalli? which species. TFS, well done

Such an impressive animal - great focus on him...esp. the horns. Detail on the snow is great too - as you can see his front leg has kicked some up in his efforts to trudge through it.

hi ted
very beautiful moment

hi Alan,

Very nice capture of a mountain sheep, nice lighting and POV.

Great capture,
He sure looks healthy,
I can't say as I blame him for going the other way,
Good idea in keeping your distance,

You did well to even get close enough to try a shot, this is really a nice shot in the wild of a wild Ram. Hard not to blow out the whites when your subject is dark. I like this,

Hi Ted
I like to see animals in their natural environment, well knowing that this is not always possible, so the zoos.
I envy you this shot, as it is my dream to go there eventually, especially in winter.
Your shot is crisp, and we can see the hardship for them to circulate in the deep snow.

Have a good day
