Papilio polyxenes asterius Stoll or Black Swallowtail

I haven't been posting much. Winter had me down I guess. Then the other day I saw a Monarch and I felt my heart soar. There is something about spring that changes everything...both figuratively and literally.

As you can see from the photo, my Dianthus is thriving already. Except for my darling dog, Sparky, digging up the flower bed in which they live, they're doing great for early spring.

Hi Angelina

Great to see one from you again and it's a nice colourful one. The red dots of flowers and the multi-coloured butterfly is a joy on the eye. The insect might be a bit central in the composition though. I like the overhead POV giving a 100% clear view of the opened wings. Exposure was well done.

Good work and TFS.
Regards
Loot

HOOOOOOORAY~! A wonderful addition finally Angelina! It gives me hope! I was feeling all alone in some ways here...even though amongst friends, I knew there was one missing...hard to get along without an appendage:-)

And what a spectacular way to represent....The large butterfly which I happen to love so very much and now has Angles special angles...Angels' Angles for Easter!

Hey, I'm glad to see your back outside with the camera and posting again. I too have started to notice a few butterfly's around. Soon they will be everywhere. Beautiful swallowtail you have here. Nice spread of the wings.

Hallo Angelina
I think this is such a pretty picture with the lovely butterfly and red flowers. The colours and patterns are just wonderful. A lovely sunny and bright summer scene. You caught the Swallowtail in a wonderful aerial position and the details are excellent. It is a lovely specimen pictured from a nice angle. Great clarity and sharpness. Thanks for sharing.

Very good composition - thanks

Chris

Angelina,
BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL.
Mario from -6*C with warm greetings.

Hello Angy,

It is a pity that the red flowers the beautiful colors of the butterfly prevail. I know, I know this is the enviroment where they live. Maybe it was better to cropped the photo a bit so that the butterfly stays more in the picture. Sorry Angy about this critique. But the butterfly is so beautiful. Take a look to the colors at here wings. Amazing. Anyway it is a beauty. Thanks for sharing. Greetings and TFS BOB

nice flowers around this interesting specimen with opened wings, colours & sharpness are very good,
regards
