[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Just after I took the photo of the Whistling Swans I started to head back to the truck for the long ride home.
I noticed movement to my right and captured a shot of (my first) Bald Eagle as it flew over head.
Eagles are starting to come back to Ohio after a sharp decline back in the 60's. They claim pesticides were the main culprit to their demise.
Needless to say I was thrilled to death that I was able just to view our National bird, let alone possibly getting a photo of it too.
I have only seen Eagles three times now in my life, so it was a real thrill to be able to see one again as it soared over Magee Marsh.

Ron,

I can completely relate to your experience. I had a good glimpse of those birds on my trip to British Columbia last year but when I saw one in my home town I nearly had a heart attack :) Those guys are making a slow comeback to this region which is really nice to see. Hopefully we'll see many more in the coming years.
Your picture is not a super - shot but it doesn't really matter. It is your first shot of a Bald Eagle and this is something to celebrate! BTW, now that you know that they are in the region, keep an eye out for them. I am sure you'll have many more opportunities to photograph this beautiful bird.

Best Regards,

Martin

Ron, congrats on your first eagle picture! What a great shot. I love how the feathers in the wingtips look. And also the look in his eye. Thanks for sharing.

Dang...those are so nice to get..I thin one of the first I saw was from proframe...Harry. He seems to travel all over the world or at least AK to get these and this may of come to interest to you....I used to see many more of these here in E WA, but the last say 3 years I have not seen nearly as many. I wonder...what could be the reason. With the problems with wild salmon and other things of science which I know so little..what could be causing this disappearing again of the baldie? Well seen and you bring up a good question in my mind!

Hi Ron,
This is a great inflight and I'm so glad they are making a comeback in your area. Great work Ron.

Hi Ron,

Very cool photo, it must have been quite a thrill to see and photograph that. You caught it in a nice pose too.

Recently, one stopped off for part of a day at the grassland restoration site I volunteer at, about 2 miles south of my home, but I didn't get to see it, didn't hear about it until it was gone, darn it. It's great to see them coming back. There's now a pair nesting in the Chicago area, first time since the late 19th century.

Thanks,
John

Hi Ron,

I would be so excited to see an eagle flying overhead. I doubt I would be able to get one even half as good as yours. Congratulations on your first. I love the wing tips and the face looks good. The only time I saw them was in Alaska.

Hello Ron,
I feel your note and congratulations, I am very happy for you! :)
What a splendid image, I love eagles and your is just perfect, funny enough here in Africa, I don't see many splendid birds around I am wondering why since the day I was born.
TFS,
Nelson
